Salse & Latin Dance

salsa and latin dancesLatin Dance is a general label that refers to a group of ballroom dances that have their origins in Latin American dance and music.

Some of these dances include Cha-cha-cha, Rumba, Samba, and others. Salsa is also an example of these Latin Dances. Salsa is a social Latin dance that originated in New York and parts of Latin America and has its roots in Cuban Son, Mambo, Cha-cha-cha amongst others.

Salsa is a partner dance and is characterised by its precise footwork and hip movement. Salsa is energetic, sensual and fun.  The dance form has migrated all over the world and is danced from New York to Tokyo, and Cape Town to Kampala.

The Salsa and Latin Dance instructors at the Kampala Dance Studio are experienced and very active in Kampala’s dance community.  Every class starts with a thorough warm-up and then introduces students to basic steps and foundations. All levels of experience are welcome. You may come with a partner, but this is not a prerequisite.
